Who is Jenna Lyons? Well first of all she is a real star… at least for me let’s say my kind of star! She is a president and creative director of J.Crew, working mother, the most stylish woman and one of the most influential women in fashion. As creative director she is credited with giving the brand her unique style, catering to everyone from celebrities to students, but as the company struggles with falling profits and tries to expand abroad, Lyons has her work cut out for her. As a president and creative director in J.Crew she helped to transform this small brand to multi billion dollars, retail powerhouse.
Jenna Lyons grew up in California sewing her own clothes and digging in to a J.Crew catalogues, her futures employer. She moved to New York to attend to Parsons School of Design and after her internship at Donna Karan joined J.Crew in 1990. She describes herself then as an assistant to an assistant to somebody’s else assistant. She admit that being there felt like home, and here idea was to make every woman beautiful not just those who can spend hundreds for a sweater (although in J.Crew line you can easily find really expensive pieces.) With CEO Mickey Drexler, Jenna finally define J.Crew aesthetics. It take few season J.Crew clothing went to grown up and big city cool.
Many times we presented J.Crew collection this time you can see a little bit of Jenna Lyons style. Take a look!
