Maybe it doesn’t look like that, but it is for sure spring collection. I checked and I believe that Christopher Bailey’s vision for the brand is relentlessly forward-thinking. Twenty-four hours before the Burberry Prorsum show, a sneak peek of the collection was staged on Snapchat. Another unexpected thing this was a mini concert by Alison Moyet. She was performing with a 32-piece orchestra and her ethereal vocals set the darkly romantic tone of the show. Just imagine the music, atmosphere and the collection where the first model was dressed in head-to-toe black—a thigh-grazing lace minidress, classic trenchcoat, sporty rubber-soled sandals, and a nylon backpack.
This collection Christopher Bailey called the show of a “mashup of things I really love.” and it was definitely different from past ones. Baileys always keeps the bigger picture in his mind and this time was the same. Like he explained after the show, for him, the idea of traditional seasons has essentially become obsolete: Showing those pretty ’40s-inspired slips with a cozy, sheared mink coat, as well as light summer trench coats makes sense in a global market.
